I illustrated this great note for El Gato y la Caja, by María Sol Ruiz, about how the donation of umbilical cord blood works and if it makes sense to keep it in private banks. To illustrate it, I imagined a forest of platelets, red blood cells and other microscopic possibilities on a giant scale, where the person felt in a strange and fascinating landscape.
Ilustré esta nota genial para El Gato y la Caja, de María Sol Ruiz, sobre cómo funciona la donación de sangre de cordón umbilical y si tiene sentido guardarla en bancos privados. Para ilustrarla, imaginé un bosque de plaquetas, glóbulos rojos y otras posibilidades microscópicas a escala gigante, donde la persona se sintiera en un paisaje extraño y fascinante.
I did a lot of experimentation with watercolour and ink to generate the textures, since blood is water-based, and it seemed appropriate to explore the behavior of materials and their reactions. They were really experiments, to see how water behaves with detergent, alcohol, salt and oil.
Realicé mucha experimentación con acuarela y tintas para generar las texturas, ya que la sangre, es en base a agua, y me parecía adecuado explorar el comportamiento de los materiales y sus reacciones. Fueron realmente experimentos, ver cómo se comporta el agua con detergente, alcohol, sal, aceite.
